Doris Lee (Polk) Gorsuch, 82, departed this life quietly at Virginia Mennonite Retirement Community in Harrisonburg, Virginia, on Thursday, November14th, 2019, having never fully recovered from a severe pelvis fracture in July.

She was born Wednesday, March 31, 1937, in Edinburg, Virginia, a second daughter of the late Lester Earl Polk and Margie Jane Fadeley Polk.

On February 4th, 1961 she married James Nevin "Jim" Gorsuch who passed away June 10th, 2009.

She is survived by their daughter and son-in-law, Diane Leigh Cooley-Lutz and Kenneth (Kenny) Wayne Lutz, of Quicksburg;

A granddaughter and her husband, Denise Jane Runion Hodson & John Dale "Jody" Hodson, Jr., of Strasburg;

Three great-grandchildren,
Baylee Louise Hodson of Strasburg;
Bradlee John Hodson & wife Jymi Rudolph Hodson of Fort Valley;
Brittanee Hodson Jett, husband, Jeffery Jett II, and their son, Conley (Doris' great-great grandchild) of Woodstock.

Debbie Ruby Bowers (who was like a daughter to Doris) and her Husband, Jeff of Woodstock; Brother-in-law, William "Bill" Gorsuch and wife Kay of Everett;

Three nephews, Frank Gorsuch, George Gorsuch, and Todd Gorsuch;

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in passing away by her older sister, Annabel Lee Polk on September 13, 1979.

Mrs. Gorsuch was a lifelong member of the Union Forge United Methodist Church in Edinburg. After her marriage to Jim on February 4th, 1961, together they moved to Pennsylvania, later returning to Virginia in the early 80's when they started, owned, and operated "Jim's Plumbing."

Doris also worked as a teller at First Union Bank, now F& M Bank, and after retiring from the bank, worked in Food Service at North Fork Middle School. In 2001, she and her husband moved to Beaufort, South Carolina, where she worked in Food Service at Beaufort Memorial Hospital. After Jim's passing, Doris moved back to Virginia to be with her family and enjoyed flowers and gardening, dogs, cardinals and her Christmas "pixies."
