She touched the lives of many people, both near and far, and was unique in her own way. She loved to travel to both Florida and Texas, and spent much of her time as a volunteer for her community, specifically as a volunteer with the Salvation Army.

A master gardener who was a member of the American Iris Society, Dorothy loved all flowers, though she had some favorites, like roses, irises and daylilies. Her collections of flowers that she kept at her home and also planted at the homes of her children were, and still are, beautiful to this day.

Dot also loved her pet dogs that she bred and raised, especially her Pomeranians, Ruby, Candy and the late Peanut, who was her companion for over 23 years, and her Yorkies, Belle, Cassie and Coda.
